Although you can try to get away from sweet cereals, you don't have to jump them completely. Sharp stresses that sometimes it's just a day of cinnamon toast toast, "and it's a-on."

The options she eats regularly still has sugar, but not as much.

"For each day, I generally look for a cereal that is not completely without sugar - due to the hashtag flavor - but something that has less than 7 grams of sugar per portion," said Sharp.

She notes that she often eats her cereals with Greek yogurt and berries, which means that additional fat, proteins and fibers "help stamp all small amounts of simple sugars". In general, she says that she also feels better when her breakfast is not too sweet.

"I know that I just feel best and I have better energy on the workforce when I stick to a slightly lower cereal in sugar," concludes Sharp.

3
Give a good look to the ingredients.

The third and last thing that Sharp is looking for is the list of ingredients.

"I'm not the type to demonize any type of ingredient or additive, but it's worth turning your box just to see what's inside your cereals," she said. "I like to specifically look at the order of ingredients in the list of ingredients because the ingredients are listed by weight, so we know that the ingredients at the top of the list are present in the largest quantities."

For example, Sharp is looking for "whole grain" at the top of the list, then things like sugars, colors and additives at the bottom.
