Touching story behind a man's video with dementia remembers his own song
"I did not know how many other moments I would have with him."
On Sunday,Nick Harvey, 47, from Crowborough, England, posted a video of his father,Paul Harvey, 79 years old, it touched the hearts of the millions of people who looked at him. The video shows him ask his father, who hasdementia, to play a melody called "where is the sun?" that the eldest Harvey composed in 1981.
"He thought he could not remember that," Nick tweeted with the video. But then Paul put his fingers on the keys and the beautiful piece paid from him without break.
Dad has a dementia. Sometimes he drifts in another world and I want to lose it. It is never more present, however, when playing the piano.

When you have reached email, Nick said that his father was diagnosed withAlzheimer And dementia a few months ago. Living with the disease has obviously been painful for the Harvey family.
"Often, I can say that he gets sucked in his own world," Nick said. "[But] One thing we noticed as a family is that when he listens to music, especially when he plays the piano, he comes out of that."
Sunday, Paul arrived for lunch, as it usually does and "gravitated at the piano like a magnet". Nick decided to capture the moment, but he could not have guess the handle of the images that would result.
"I filmed it because I did not know how many moments I had with him with him," Nick said. "I asked him if he played his own composition from 1981. As you can see the video, he did not think he did not think he could remember, then something in clicked mentally, then he goes. "
The video quickly returned viral, winning more than 2.7 million views on Twitter and 22,000 retweets in just two days.
"I never thought it would go viral," Nick said. "I thought people would find it quite moving but not at the point of two million views already on Twitter, then obviously the other platforms too. It's not just the story behind it, but it's The music is the power of dad music. "
Although Nick said it's "on the moon" that his father has "reaches a wider audience", it's the memory he really holds.
