"My three children were sitting there, and I never talked about Jason, and I never mentioned Sam, my youngest child," said Bacall in the interview. "I had a lot of things I should have said about Jason, and Sam was sitting right there. I think that’s about one thing as bad as ever. Come back, and I couldn't, because they had all the planned film cuts, and so they were directly in the next thing. I think that has terribly marked my son, and there is no excuse for that, especially in view that I then love it. ""

Bacall explained that the regret of his speech had even made him want not to want to watch his Oscar.

"It's hidden in my room," she saidVanity. "I'm ready to throw it out the window. I hate it now. Every time I look at it, I remember this day the best days of my life are one of the worst."

She was cut by the orchestra.

Duringhis speech, Bacall spoke of Bogart, remembering his start of career. "He was not only a wonderful actor, but he was an extraordinary man," she said about the actor. "And he gave me a life and he changed my life."
