John Tesh says it was the sign that his cancer had returned
The cancer survivor says he initially ignored the disturbing symptom.
A jack-of-all trades in the world of entertainment,John Tesh is a pianist, pop music composer, radio host and television presenter. He won six Emmys and released four gold albums, was named for two Grammy Awards and even marked an associated press price for investigative journalism - an enviable career with a norm. But in 2015, the star was diagnosed with an aggressive form ofProstate cancer And says he had only 18 months to live. Beat the chances, Tesh overcame the disease and resumed his life. However, its cancer returned in 2020 - this time bringing new and surprising symptoms and challenges. Read it to know how he learned that his cancer had come back and how he learned to deal with the help of his wife and faith.

The doctors first found cancer during a routine check.
BeforeProstate cancer Diagnosis, Tesh sayshe was happy and healthy. "I was a kind of happily in my life," he saysFacing the cancer magazine In 2021. "[I had] 63, had two grandchildren, and I had done things in my life, I was satisfied," he recalled. But when the artist visited his doctor's office for his annual balance sheet, his doctor noticed something suspicious during a Digital Rectal Exam.
A test that measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood is back in a normal range, just like the other Tesh's blood hand. (High levels of PSA may indicate the presence of prostate cancer, although other conditions can also cause a reinforced PSA.) Nevertheless, its health care team has followed with a sonogram and a safety biopsy. These tests revealed that Tesh suffered from a rare form of aggressive prostate cancer. The doctors told the star that he had only 18 months to live and advised him to have his business in order.

Tesh knew that her cancer had returned when he had intense pain in his basin.
Fortunately, Tesh survived the original prognosis - but five years after his initial diagnosis, cancer came back. Although he has already experienced a grassy health episode, he initially rejected the symptoms, attributing them to his age. "In October of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, suddenly I started to feel a little reallySerious pain in my basin," he saidHello America In 2021. "I thought, at my age, maybe I just pulled a muscle from the groin. I started ignoring it. But then it worsened and worse and I could not sleep," Has he shared.
Doctors quickly determined that these symptoms should not be ignored. "I went to make a scan and turned out that cancer had come back with revenge. Scans showed that there were tumors rolled around my basin, and one of them strangled my kidney right, so it was very fast, "explained.
Tesh struck a low point during his first battle with cancer.
After his initial diagnosis in 2015, Tesh suffered a prostatectomy to eliminate all his prostate. This was followed by a therapy for androgen deprivation (ADT), a form of hormonal replacement processing. The treatment has come with a range of unpleasant side effects, includingnight sweatsInsomnia, weight loss and fatigue - but Tesh stated that the greatest number of people it took was on his mental health. "For someone who is [being treated for prostate cancer], it is the ADT that really changes life. This causes a huge amount of depression."
As a patient of Terminal Cancer, Tesh says that pain medications were easy to come by pain and crossed a dark period when he abused painkillers and drank heavily. "It was a bad time. I was a bad father. I was a bad husband," Tesh saidTo face.
"I fought at the beginning. Then, when the cancer came back, it was as if someone had slammed a door in my face," he saysGma hostMichael Strahan. "Hope was not something that prevailed in my life at that time."

His wife, and their shared faith, lifted him from the depths of despair.
Tesh says that at his lowest point, his 30-year-old woman,Connie Sellecta, intervened with a difficult love if necessary. "At some point, Connie and I went to Toe," Tesh Strahan said. "She formally sent me the message clearly that she was not going to stay that. She had invested in me and the relationship and my health, and I really gave myself an ultimatum that I had to be straightened," A-T -He recalled.
Tesh says he has received this strong and clear message, and that helped him refocus on looking for more positive ways of adaptation. "From that moment, I realized that I had to help me feel sorry for myself in the middle of my pity and had to start making a way through the sufferings," A-T -he declares. "I knew that with the help of Connie and with the cooperation of God, I could see myself on the other side - and it's so important. I stopped talking about me as acancerous patient. Together, we pray with the understanding that God wanted me well, "added Tesh.
Today, the star says it is still fighting to preserve its health, but the fact of a more positive place. "I'm back in business," he saysTo face. "I still have tumor tissue and one of my kidneys is pretty much dead," he recognized. "But it did not stop me. I'm always," he says.
