The perfect Shakshuka recipe for Sunday brunch

Wake up at this healthy egg on weekends!


There is nothing such as waking up with a big, healthybrunch On a Sunday morning, especially if this brunch involves Shakshuka. Shakshuka is a typically cooked tomato sauce box in a pan witheggs, vegetables and spices. Dip a little bread taking into the pan, unplug a cup of coffee and you have the Sunday morning brunch your dreams yourself.

You will need

1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 medium onion, cut in tapes of 1 inch wide
1 green pepper, cut into 1 inch wide bands
1 clove with garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can be crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon of chopped fresh coriander, or 1 teaspoon of cilantro dried
1/4 c.
1/4 c. Freshly ground black pepper
1 TSP Sriracha
6 big eggs

How to do it

  1. In a large medium heat jump saucepan, heat the olive oil until it shines.
  2. Add the onions and pepper of the bell and make the jump until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook until scented odor, about 1 minute.
  4. Incorporate crushed tomatoes, Cilantro, salt, black pepper and Sriracha.
  5. Increase high medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, and then reduce low medium heat.
  6. Cover the pan and simmer about 10 minutes to leave the flavors mix together.
  7. Break 1 egg in a wine glass. Gently pour the egg into the pan along the outer edge.
  8. Repeat with the remaining 5 eggs so that a circle is formed with eggs along the outer edge of the pan.
  9. Reduce heat to low, cover the pan and cook until eggs are poached - about 6 minutes.
  10. If preparative meal: Place the Shakshuka in six individual containers, each comprising an egg surmounted by sauce. Store up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave for 1 minute and let it cool for 2 minutes to allow the heat to distribute uniformly.
