Walmart tests deliveries by drones into a small pilot program and deploys devices operated by the Israeli Flytrex startup for work. So far, the retailer has not published many details. It is therefore difficult to know how many drones are part of this program and if customers need to prepare special preparations before receiving a command via drone.

Tom Ward, senior vice president of the customer product, suggested that drones appear to be the next frontier on delivery and Walmart has very well defined its tourist sites on innovation. "We know it will be a little while before seeing millions of parcels delivered via Drone. It always looks like a little sci-fi, but we are at a point where we are learning more and more technology available and how we can use it to facilitate the lives of our customers, "he noted in adeclaration on the company's website.

The capabilities of the technology themselves are currently limited.Drones can fly at speeds of 32 m / h, trip distances of 6.2 miles in a round trip and carrying only 6.6 pounds, which is not conducive to substantial grocery races. The drone will then reduce the ground packing with an elevation of 80 feet rather than having to land.

The Company has received the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to test this program under the condition that their drones are flying only during the day and on non-pompous areas.

This is not the first time Walmart is experimenting with drone technology. They started testing them forCustomer deliveries in 2015, while in 2016, they plannedUse them for inventory checks in their warehouses.
