A new study published inThe physiology log have found that those who have made different types of stretching five times a week have seen an improvement in global vascular function throughout their body. Basically, it means that stretching is good for blood flow and is finally good for your heart.

So, how did this study work? Well, there were 39 participants who were put into three different groups. A group made a 12-week program in which they participated in five 40-minute sessions every week of the bilateral leg, ankle and stretching feet. Another group did the same exercises, but for only 20 minutes of sessions, only on the right side of their bodies. The third group did not make stretching at all.

Italian researchers examined blood flow, stiffness of artery and blood pressure in all participants, before and after stretching programs. The researchers found that those who were in both stretching groups had lower blood pressure and less arterial stiffness, and blood flow in the thigh, knee and cabinet arteries were considerably increased. Even the arteries of the body part are not directly affected by stretching movements have seen an improvement with regard to vascular function. Those who were in the group who did not do stretching, unsurprisingly, did not see a kind of improvement.

However, something to keep in mind that the researchers revealed that, within six weeks of stopping the stretching program, the vascular functions of the participants are returned to their levels of origin. This means that consistency is the key, and you will want to follow these daily sections to truly reactivate the benefits.
