And it was easy to hide from the world, at least when she was younger. But as she got older, things began to change. What started as a gift, matured over the years. And that's when she realized the gift was not a blessing after all.

Gemma Cairns lived this life for the last 32 years of his life. From the moment she was born, Gemma could hear more than what was said. She was the girl who did not know the sound of silence.

Regular Morning

It was a morning of rain in the old town of Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Gemma was peacefully asleep, his body buried under layers of blankets and sheets. His eyes opened to the sound of the rain getting heavier and hit the window above his bed She sat up slowly, rubbing sleep away remnants of his eyes. She reached out and grabbed his phone from the nightstand.

He strikes again

Gemma's eyes widened when she looked at the time. She was late for work. Before even thinking twice, she jumped out of bed and stood up in a race. And that's when he hit her again. Dizziness, headache, he threw her off guard and she had to sit down to get a hold of herself. 32 years later and is still capable of being negligent.

Rushing to work

Once Gemma herself had collected, she rushed to prepare. This will be the second time this week when she was late for work. She hoped that her manager was not present when it reaches the coffee. Gemma worked in the cafe for the past three years. Since becoming a mother, she knew she had to find a stable income means for her child.

Single mother

Being a single mother is not a piece of cake. Gemma loved his son more than anything and everyone in the world. But sometimes she wondered if it lacks the presence of a father figure. Maybe not yet because he is still very young, but maybe the line one day, he might feel that the absence in his life.

Driving to work

Shoes Gemma splashed water as she sprinted in her driveway to get to his car. Once she was on the main road, Gemma assured to keep his windows closed. She could not afford to repeat the episode this morning, especially when driving. The wiper blades ran aggressively on his windshield to clear the view. The mist of rain had fallen in the air, she could see a sign of suspicion on the horizon coffee.
