Have you ever seen a movie and you have thought "That's a work of art, this picture seems like it could be a painting"? Well, these are some of the scenes you may have seen and you have marveled by its beauty but you never knew that they were really inspired by a painting.
Have you ever seen a movie and you have thought "That's a work of art, this picture seems like it could be a painting"? Well, it turns out that sometimes that is exactly the case. Some directors like to pay homage to beautiful paintings and try to recreate paint in a movie. These are some of the scenes you may have seen and you have amazed at your beauty but you never knew that they were really inspired by a painting.
1. Django unchained vs blue child
Did you think that blue suit was invented by Tarantino? It was definitely inspired by the painting of 1770 by Thomas Gainsborough.
2. Melancholia vs Ophelia
This is really amazing, do not you think? Lars von Trier is an absolute genius and this reference to Ofelia, the John Everett Millais painting is so well done. It is not a copy, it looks different, but you can clearly see the influence.
3. Inherent vice vs the last dinner
We are sure that Paul Thomas Anderson thought it would be fun to recreate the last dinner but with pizza.
4. Forrest Gump vs the world of Cristina
This scene in Forrest Gump looks like it could be the Andrew Wyeth picture but from a different perspective. Do not you believe it?
5. Girl with Pearl Earring vs Little girl with pearl ear
This is more than obvious. The goal was to recreate the famous picture of Johannes Vermeer called a girl with pearl earring and it seems that Peter Webber chose the perfect actress for it. Scarlett Johansson looks exactly the same as the girl in the painting.
6. Dunkirk vs Hiker on the sea of clouds
While the mood is very different in these two, the image is strangely similar. The fog and smoke do the same and the colors are almost the same.
7. Shutter Island vs the kiss
Did you look at this scene at Shutter Island and you thought it looked a bit like Gustav Klimt's painting? Of course, but was it intentional? We would have to ask Martin Scorsese, but knowing him was definitely intentional.
8. The Thomas Crown Affair vs The Son of Man
That suit seems very familiar to me, right? Well, they even refer to him in the movie so we know it was done on purpose. I do not think it is possible to dress someone like this accidentally.
9. Frida vs Frida and Diego Rivera
This famous frida picture was referenced in a 2002 film scene and it is amazing how every detail were right. Does anyone else think this movie should have received more prizes than you received?
