The 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea are full! From the opening ceremony of 9 February through the closing ceremony 16 days later on the 25th, the whole world closely monitors to see which country has the best ice skaters, skins and ... Curlers? At its beauty, we do all the dirt and follow all the amazing stories of this year's Olympic Games so you do not have to have to do. If you pay attention to the games (and we know you've been!) Some of these stories could already be familiar to you. But who knows, there could be a surprise or two. We proudly present 8 great things that occurred at the winter Olympics so far!
1. The Olympic Stadium of Pyeongchang made its sparkling debut
The world has learned to see the new stage of 35,000 seats in Pyeongchang in all its glory on February 9 when athletes representing 92 nations have come to celebrate the opening of the 23rd Olympic Winter Games. The global leaders and Arch-Nemes Donald Trump and Kim Jong-nations were not present, but impersonators who dress like the pair attempt to enter. Although security was throughout that, the fellows get an "A" for effort. As a result, the $ 109 million stadium will undoubtedly be used for years and years to come. I laugh. They already intend to tear him after the end of the games.
2. Korea is now unified
He is official: Korea is a country again and we can now wait for peace for the rest of eternity. Ok, so maybe not. But the two Koreas walk to the opening ceremony under a flag. And the women's female hockey teams joined the forces to compete as a single team. The hockey joint effort was however not certain of a few minor complications. Their coach, La Sarah Murray-Murray American, does not speak to Korean lick and even players of each Korea use different ice hockey terminologies. Although they enlightened in their three games by a total score of 20-1, they have always managed to capture our hearts, right?
3. North Korean pommen are the most North Korean thing ever
The North Korean delegation of 200 features about 100 pommen, who are all 20-year-old women who would have been cumulated by "Marshal" itself. During the hockey games presenting the United Korean Female Hockey team aforementioned, the young ladies sung in unison and carefully choreographed their dance movements. Another Kim Jong-Nations on the appearance - as stopped to mingle, but neither the ladies nor the security guards gave her the shoe were amused.
4. Russia is totally prohibited from the 2018 Games, but they are totally not prohibited at all
After Russia has been engulfed in a huge doping scandal, the International Olympic Committee responded in the strongest possible way. They banned Russia of the 2018 Games. They sent a message that, in no way uncertain, the cheating would be tolerated. Not really. Russia was still allowed to send 169 of its athletes to Pyeongchang. Several athletes have already won medals they go home proudly in Russia. Known as Olympic athletes in Russia, participants are not technically allowed to compete under the flag of their country of origin, but who are pleasing? Hoping that Russia has learned of its lesson!
5. An American female ice skater finally lands a triple-axel
In 1776, the 13 American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. Fast forward of more than 240 years and the Yanks finally managed to land their first triple-axel in an international skating competition. He took them well long enough, is not it? Mirai Nagasu managed the feat, helping to lead the United States to the bronze medal in the team competition. In all severity, the triple-axel is really legitimately hard. To put things into perspective, when we writers to his beauty manages a simple monoconel, we take the rest of the day to celebrate.
6. The Mexico team is represented by ... a Mexican who does not speak Spanish
Listen, we all know that most of the 92 countries participating in this year's Olympic Winter Games do not pray to glory. In fact, if history is an indication, about 70% of competing countries come home empty hands. But that does not mean that countries like Mexico can not dream. The neighbors of South America sent 4 skiers to the games, all who are all deceived the day of the dead ski costumes, because why not? Interesting, the quota includes an American who previously represented Team USA, a Spanish (!), A Mexican (!!!) and a Mexican born guy who was adopted by a Canadian family a few months after his birth and who does not have T will speak the language of his aboriginal country. Another quite cool story though, is not it?
7. The American teenager has a dirty mouth and a brilliant gold medal
So, get this: 17-year-old American red Gérard has managed to sleep through his alarm because he was watching a Netflix show. He also lost his jacket and had to borrow a teammate. Basically, he behaved exactly as we did all when we were Dorky teenagers. Except that, unlike us, he has a gold medal. In fact, it is the youngest men's winter Olympic athlete in 90 years to reach this feat. Oh, and he managed to give up the Bomb F-Bomb in response to victory.
8. The Tongan Toors Nude guy returned!
During the Olympic Summer Games in Rio two years ago, a tonga muscle and insultant athlete participated in the opening ceremonies of a traditional Tonga Tongan, a woven carpet worn around its waste. Fast forward until 2018 and Pita Taufatofua, who participated in summer games in Taekwondo, still represents his country, but this time skiing (he learned in 3 months!). Oh, and he was the naked torso again during the opening ceremony of February 9, even if the temperatures were lower than gel. He should really have a kind of medal for that, do not you think?
