Hunter McGrady: beauty in large format
Hunter McGrady, plus-size model, entrepreneur, activist and mother, embodies a free and inclusive beauty that defies codes and commands admiration.
She has shapes, a voice, courage and she is disturbing. Hunter McGrady is that type of woman who doesn't fit into any box, so she decided to create her own. Plus-size model, entrepreneur, activist, mother: she embodies a new idea of beauty, truer, more inclusive. Here is his journey, in a few pieces of life that command admiration.
A youth between light and wounds
Born in Los Angeles in 1993, Hunter grew up in an artistic family: an actor father, a model mother. However, the path was not so simple. In high school, she suffered teasing and criticism about her appearance. Too tall, not thin enough. Like many young girls, she learns early that the gaze of others can be cruel.
But Hunter, instead of breaking, built herself.

The day she said no
At 15, she signed with a “classic” modeling agency. But her body does not suit the demands of the profession: she is asked to lose again and again, even though she is only a size 36. At 19, she left the door and chose a new path: that of plus-size modeling.
That’s the trigger. She finally feels like she belongs. No more lies, no more disguises. Just her, as she is.

An icon that shakes up the codes
In 2017, she made her debut in Sports Illustrated . In 2024, she became the first plus-size model on the cover of the anniversary issue. A strong moment for her, but also for all those who, until then, did not recognize themselves in any ad or magazine. It then becomes a symbol, without ever having sought to be one.

A voice that counts
Hunter doesn't just pose in a swimsuit. She speaks and people listen. Mental health, body image, mourning, motherhood: she addresses all these subjects without language. She is also an ambassador for the JED foundation, which fights against suicide among young people. And when she writes the words “confidence”, “audacity” and “deserving” on her body for a committed shoot, it’s not staged. It's a message.
The “all sizes” entrepreneur
Because fashion still forgets too many women, she is launching her own line of inclusive clothing, All Is Worthy , available up to 5XL. Its goal: that each person can dress with pleasure, without shame or compromise.
She also collaborates with committed brands such as Playful Promises , and refuses that inclusiveness is a simple trend.
A full life, without filters
Married to Brian Keys, whom she met on Snapchat (yes, really), Hunter is the mother of two children and stepmother of a little girl. She shares her daily life between photo shoots and podcasts with her sister ( Model Citizen ), travel (special mention for Italy) and simple pleasures like playing basketball or going to Disneyland in a wedding dress.
She even mixed with Snoop Dogg one night. Just like that. Because she wanted it.
