I took a train through the United States and these are the 18 most amazing things I saw

Discover photos of the rivers, oceans, forests and farms from one ocean to another.

Whoever took a road trip Before, knows how much this country has to offer beautiful landscapes. But if you want to feel a wide width of visits, think of a cross-country train. I recently traveled on Amtrak from New York to Los Angeles and return, and I broke hundreds photos along the way. It was not my first trip from one ocean to another, but I have always found myself marveling from the diversity of landscapes and views that I lived in a single day. To give you a taste of what it is, I collected 18 of the most beautiful sites I have seen from the window of my bottom train: cities, cities, forests, plains and countless plains of 'water.

My trip to the west was the New York Lake Shore Liked in Chicago, the California Zephyr of Chicago in Emeryville (in the San Francisco Bay region), and the Cast Starlight in Emeryville in Los Angeles. Led to the east, I took the southwest chief of Los Angeles in Chicago, then the Lake Shore Limited of Chicago in New York. There were long stretches without much to see, so the following photos do not explain every hour of the many days that I spent on board. But I present them in chronological order to give meaning to what experience was. Read the rest to see what I saw.

1
Hudson River (New York)

I live in a few avenues from the Hudson river, so it's not exactly a rare spectacle for me, but I have always made sure to get a photo on the first stage of my trip. Here we were somewhere near the city of Rhinebeck. It was covered and rainy, and I had only had a few hours before he did the night, so I had much better views on the Hudson on the way back.

2
Chicago Skyline (Illinois)

Yes, cities can also be beautiful, especially when there was not much to see to this point. After largely flat times of land, you appreciate the sudden emergence of skyscrapers to the height of their name. I took this photo while California Zephyr left Chicago.

3
Cornfields (Illinois)

For someone who has always lived in a big city, corn fields are also something to see. I took a lot of photos of farms in several states, but I think it - in the village of Kirkwood, Illinois, made the best.

4
Mississippi River (Iowa)

Most of the time, when you move between states, you don't even notice it, unless you pay attention. To get to Iowa, however, we crossed the Mississippi river, which is always a magnificent spectacle. (It was not the last photo that I had during my trip.) I took this photo when we arrived in Burlington, Iowa, from Gulfport, Illinois. AE0FCC31AE342FD3A1346EBB1F342FCB

5
Glenwood Canyon (Colorado)

Unfortunately, the track work meant that my trip from Denver to Grand Junction, Colorado has become a bus trip instead. There were still incredible views, including that of Glenwood Canyon, but I imagine that it would have been even better from the train observation car.

6
Mesas (Utah)

I could not see a lot of Utah before it did the night, but I appreciated the Mesas that we spent. I had a photo of this one with the moon hovering over it near Wellington.

Truckee River (Nevada)

After hours of pretty arid landscapes from Nevada, I was delighted to meet the Truckee river, which you follow when you move from this state in California. The views were also excellent when we head to the city of Truckee herself.

8
Give pass (California)

My sleeping car agent let me know that I needed to look at the windows in front of my room to get the best view of Giving Lake and Giving Pass, and I'm glad she did it because They are superb. Both are named after the unfortunate Party to give , which adds an important historical context (and overwhelming!).

9
Tahoe National Forest (California)

For a while, there was not much to see, if only because the fog was so heavy. But there was something magical to cross the national forest of Tahoe in the mist.

10
Pacific Ocean (California)

One of the most picturesque parts of the entire trip was my last step on the Los Angeles path, which I rolled on the light of the stars of the coast. As its name suggests, this train leads you to the coast and just above the water, allowing a few hours of view on the ocean.

As far as I know, nothing can compete with the sky of New Mexico. I took this photo somewhere near Glorieta (I had a terrible service throughout this part of the trip, so it is difficult to say exactly where with certainty).

13
River Purgoire (Colorado)

We stopped in Trinidad, Colorado, at sunset, where I saw a river that I had never heard of before, Purgatory. He is also known as Purgatory or the Picketwire river, but everything sounds better in French.

14
Missouri River (Missouri)

The Missouri river is the one I to have Having heard, of course. The late morning sun on the water meant that I almost blinded myself to get this blow while we are heading towards Sibley, Missouri.

Later in the day, we arrived in Fort Madison, Iowa, and I could not resist taking more photos of the Mississippi. It was a beautiful afternoon, and we were arrested for a while, so I was able to look at the tourists to visit the eponymous fort and a river boat going down the river.

16
Main Street (Illinois)

Louis Peitzman

There is nothing remarkable in this main street in Princeton, Illinois, a city of just under 8,000 in the office county. But I really liked our short stops in the cities of the United States, and I loved this princeton overview.

Mohawk river (New York)

On my last day of train travel, I could see New York in much better lighting conditions. This included many opportunities to admire the Mohawk river, the biggest tributary in the Hudson. I took this in the hamlet of Jacksonburg, New York, about 20 miles outside of Utica.

18
More Hudson river (New York)

This last day, I had the impression that there was always water to watch - The Lake Shore Limited gave me a view which was almost as good as that of the Starlight Coast. I took a photo after a photo of the Hudson river, especially since the sun was starting to bed. This photo was taken near the village of Croton-on-Hudson, shortly before finally returning to Penn Station in the city.
