Costco recalls the musk squash due to the risk of E. Coli, warns the FDA

The agency claims that products could be contaminated by harmful bacteria.

But now, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that Costco recalls the musk squash due to a potential E. coli risk of contamination. Costco recalls the packages of the Sunnyside Farms musk squash sold in certain stores.

On September 25, the FDA announced that Vineland, New Jersey Fresh Foods Recalled his biological musk squash sold under his brand Sunnyside Farms. The affected product is packed in 32 ounce plastic containers with the article Costco 2052222222222244124 UPC 04023244124 and the best of 19/09/2023.

The products recalled were sold between September 7, 2023 and September 15, 2023. The agency's opinion specifies that the items were only distributed in Costco stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

According to the reminder notice, routine tests carried out by the company returned positive for the presence of Escherichia coli O45, also known as E. coli . The agency warns that harmful bacteria "causes diarrheal disease often with bloody stools" but can also cause severe stomach cramps, fever, nausea and vomiting.

Most people with healthy immune systems are generally recovering from their symptoms in a week. However, infection can also become a more serious form of renal insufficiency known as uremic hemolytic syndrome (HUS).
