Wegman pasta sauce recalled due to health problems, the FDA warns

The tomato sauce is a must of any pantry. It's easy to grab if you do a single last minute minute pasta dinner , or if you become more creative with a homemade pizza. However, if you are a buyer of Wegmans and you have recently full of sauce, you will want to reveal the pot you bought, because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just published a reminder. The recalled sauce was sold in eight states and Washington, D.C.
According to a notice of May 17 issued by the FDA, Lidestri foods Recalls 24 ounces of Diavolo pasta of Italian classics from Wegmans. The spicy red sauce is wrapped in a Mason jar, and the affected varieties have an expiration date of March 31, 2025. They also have a JAR code of F0589 and a universal product code (UPC) of 07789022409. The latter can be found under the barcode at the back of the pot. AE0FCC31AE342FD3A1346EBB1F342FCB
The sauce was sold in eight states, namely Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Caroline, Pennsylvania and Virginie, as well as Washington, D.C.
The pasta sauce may contain an undeclared allergen.
The sauce was drawn after discovering that it can contain fish not declared in the form of anchovies, according to the FDA. The recall was first invited by a customer complaint, which noted that the Diavolo sauce contained anchovies, but was distributed in packaging that does not list anchovies as an ingredient.
An investigation revealed that the error "was caused by a temporary rupture in the packaging processes of Lidestri Foods," said the FDA. The products were sold in Wegmans between April 3, 2023 and May 16, 2023.

If you bought the sauce, turn it over for a refund.
Consumers allergic to anchovies or have a serious sensitivity to fish "run the risk of serious or fatal allergic reaction if they consume the products," according to the FDA.
If you have the Diavolo pasta sauce of Italian classics Wegmans with the expiration date of March 25, 2025 and the code F0589, the FDA asks you to return it to the store in which you bought it for a refund.

Another pasta sauce has just recalled.
It was a difficult month for pasta sauces: according to an opinion of the FDA of May 9, Bakkavor USA voluntarily recalled Trader Joe's Genova Pesto Sold in 14 states.
The products were "wrongly wrapped in baths marked with houmous," said the FDA. Similar to the Wegman pasta sauce, the recall was initiated due to allergens problems. According to the agency, the Pesto Genova contained both milk and nuts, but as the sauce was wrapped in the Houmous baths, the products lacked a "allergens declaration" for one or the other ingredients.
Consumers with milk or nut allergies have been invited not to eat the pesto and throw it back or return it to Trader Joe for a full refund.
