Difficult childhood

Marsha Elle was born in Haiti, on July 18, 1991. Shortly after, doctors had to amputate one of their legs. The reason was a proximal femoral focal deficiency, a very rare condition that affects the pelvis and makes the leg not develop well. Although this did not prevent him from doing normal things about children, such as going to school, he was a victim of teasing by his teammates. Her mother tried to avoid harassment forcing her to wear pants every day even under the dresses, in order to hide the prosthesis. When she turned 16, she participated in a camp for amputated people, where she met more people like her. That was how he discovered that he could be a safe young woman from herself and capable of doing many things.

Steps in music

After that first year in the camp that changed his life, Marsha felt that she could express her feelings through art, specifically music. So he wrote his first single, "Unlimbted", which sang every year in front of his teammates when he returned to the camp. He eventually wrote more songs, and when he moved to Miami he released his first pop album with messages of hope inspired by Christianity: "Brave." "The camp taught me that it was not rare, but unique, and that's how I am," he said. The young woman continued her career in music and released two other albums, but she felt she needed to do something else to bring her message of acceptance and self -love to other people who could be in the same situation.

About his prosthesis

Although Marsha Elle currently shows her prosthesis with pride, she says it was not easy to get adequate. When he was a child, his mother rejected several prostheses because they were not of his skin tone. When they finally found a company that made prostheses of different colors, both were very excited. “Since then, I have always tried to make my prostheses personalized: according to my size, shape and skin color. And it is that a prosthesis is something that directly impacts my quality of life. I want to feel comfortable and proud of my prosthesis. ”
