Prepare the meal in front of the guests.

You will want to make sure to make as much preparation as possible in the kitchen in advance, so that you can be present for your guests when they arrive.

"When the host is occupied with the logistics of the preparation and service of the meal, your guests may feel despised in not having enough time to make up for you," explains Meredith Corning , Executive event planner at Meredith events .

"You should never cook actively while the guests arrive," adds Hundley and Pewsey. "The smell of cooking desserts is acceptable, but no one wants to enter a spicy food sparkle."

2
Ignore food restrictions.

It is essential to obtain in advance the food restrictions or the allergies of each and to always have non -alcoholic drinks available, says, Huber Huber , an interior design stylist and co-founder of Peony , a collection of ethical lifestyle.

Corning suggests adding this as a question when you send invitations. "This will guarantee that you can accommodate gluten intolerances, vegans or vegetarians, or any myriad of other food requirements that your guests may have."

Suppose customers can be entertained.

"Configure board games or garden games if time allows. Ask the music to play," explains Corning. "These types of activities will guarantee that everyone is going to feel happy with the memories created."

And above all, have a good time yourself. "This is the most important thing, because it will think about your mood and your enthusiasm, and will influence what your guests feel," said Artem Kropovinsky , an interior designer and Founder of Arsight , an interior design studio based in New York.

4
Overcrowded counters.

The aesthetics and interior design of your kitchen are also essential when you entertain your guests.

"Certain common interior design errors overcut the counters with decorative or functional objects. [This] can also have an impact on the comfort and convenience of your guests, and create obstacles to communication and interaction" , explains Kropovinsky.

"If your space is tight, the creation of a food editing chain brings the guests quickly. Start the mounting chain with the basic needs of the service: plates, silverware and towels," suggests Hunleyy and Pewsey .

Neglect the seats.

Even if you host in your kitchen, you will always want to give all your guests the possibility of having a comfortable place to sit. Remember to bring additional bar stools for the counter or folding chairs for the table.

And if the space of seats in the kitchen itself is limited, Hundley and Pewsey suggest adding tables and chairs right next to the kitchen, whether inside or outside.

6
Do not delegate.

It is not because you are the host you have to do everything. The next time a guest asks what he can bring, do not say "just yourself" out of politeness; Tell them what you need.

"Never try to do everything by yourself when you host people in your kitchen," warns Huber. "Trying to cook everything from scratch while hosting and simultaneously entertaining guests can lead to stressful and overwhelming experience."

Delegate the tasks to the guests, like having them bring a dish or allow them to help you with cleaning. Most people will be happy that you have asked!
