If you are not very interested in politics, the name of Jana Mikhailid seems not to tell you anything. This domestic politician with Greek-Czech roots holds high functions in the Czech Pirate Party, in 2014 she was elected vice-chairman and in August of the same year even the chairman of the party.

After Mikhailid graduated from the multi-year grammar school in her native Karviná, she graduated from the Master's field of Biotechnology of Drugs at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague. He is currently completing his doctorate at the same university, but at the same time he is also prosecuted by a relatively successful political career. What should you know about Jana Mikhailid?

Early political

For the first time, a young politician ran for the Czech Pirate Party in 2012, namely in the regional elections to the Moravian -Silesian Regional Council. Although she failed here, she ran again in 2013, this time to the Chamber of Deputies. Unfortunately, even this attempt failed. However, she did not relax in her efforts and in 2014 she was finally elected third vice -chairwoman of the party. For some time she even became her chairwoman until Ivan Bartoš returned to the head of the Pirates.

Before Christmas in 2021, Mikhailid announced his candidacy for the chairwoman of the Czech Pirate Party and started a duel with its long -time chairman Bartoš. In the internal pirate choice, however, it was not very successful - not only could not advance from the first round, but unfortunately did not even defend its post -chairman. Since 2020 he has been the most addictive behavior team in the party.

Edge attitudes

Jan Mikhailid has become visible to the Czech public mainly by opening openly to communism. On the Czech Internet and in television media some time ago, a great stir unleashed an article in which the politician very strongly claimed communist ideology. However, even more scandal has evoked her words that collectivization is an important part of the program. For democratic voters, Mikhailid certainly did not fulfill the fact that the chairwoman of the Czech Communist Party Kateřina Konečná, who appropriately appreciated her views and praised her for the courage to present it.

Mikhailid, however, was also held by MEP for the Pirate Party Markéta Gregorová, who in the television interview said that she did not consider it a communist, and mild her statements. A few weeks ago, the politician herself in an interview showed that the Pirate Party was constantly throwing her support of communism at that time, although she would not have repeated similar statements today. She also reminded that her own family has a very negative experience with the communist regime.

Legalization of cannabis in the Czech Republic

Three years ago, Mikhailid was elected to the national committee of the Pirates and later became one of the executives. A year later, her own working group dealt with addictive substances and Mikhailid became the head of the interdepartmental team of addictive behavior. The politician is of the opinion that the legalization of cannabis is important and beneficial for the Czech Republic. He believes that there are still many people in our country who are punished for no reason, and the legalization would also be eradicated by the black market that has caused problems for a long time. However, legalization would be subject to a number of inspections and a substance containing THC would only be purchased at specialized places and exclusively to persons over 18 years.

It is certain that this step would significantly contribute to the state budget. Cannabis would be subject to excise tax and would be placed on the same level as tobacco products or alcohol. In addition to supporting the legalization of cannabis, on the other hand, Mikhailid is promoted by other narcotic drugs. For example, it proposes to reduce the availability of shorts, which is currently easily available to children in sales machines. According to her, nicotine bags should also be restricted, also sought after especially among younger users. Mikhailid also advocates continuous increase in the consumer tax of all tobacco products and hard alcohol.
