Police stressed the importance of keeping your drink covered at any time. You can invest in a "creative invention" to do it - there are several options at Walmart or Amazon - but your hand will also work very well. In fact, the police advised never to remove your hand from the top of your drink when you do not watch your drink directly.

Make sure your drinks also comes directly from the bartender and avoid taking one of people you don't know or that you don't know, police said. Keep an eye on your drink at any time, never leaving it unattended, even if you go to the toilet. This may not seem the most health option, but for safety, it is best to bring your cocktail with you to the toilet.

If you suspect that your drink has been falsified, you can test it with test strips or nail polish which "light up a certain color" when drugs are detected, according to the BPD. You should also ask for help immediately "if you are starting to feel dizzy, nauseating, stunned or strange in any way," said police.

"Please be aware of any unusual behavior of your knowledge and beware of foreigners who try to attract individuals far from their friends," reads the BPD community alert. "In addition, if you observe anyone who seems to be in distress, wandering alone late at night or dressed little for the weather, be sure to contact the police immediately."
