According to a 2021New York TimesSchneider profile, which had disappeared from television for some time after years to develop new hot shows for children, Nickelodeon decided in 2018 not to extend their contract with him following an internal investigation into his behavior of the Mother company Viacomcbs. However, some of his colleagues said they had found that some gags were inappropriate and stressed that these suggestive scenes often involved women's stars in his series.

Alexa Nikolas, who was in the distribution ofZoey 101, recalled a scene in which liquid candies explode in front of the starJamie Lynn Spears, that she said that Schneider wanted to film again and again. "We are talking about a minor," said the former child actor. "I think Jamie was 13 years old, and they squirt on her face to make him appear in a certain way."
