Things have improved thanks to the flight cuts.
After having previously announced that it would remove 100 daily flights, Bastian confirmed that Delta limits the capacity to levels lower than those observed in 2019, remaining between 83% and 85%. This will continue that the airline hires and forms new employees.
With these measures, Delta's services have improved and continue to search, said Bastian, according to the points guy.
"July left very good with a completion factor of 99.2% in the first 11 days of the month, which is exactly equal with the same vacation period in 2019," said Bastian. "During the last seven days of this period, we have only had 25 cancellations worldwide on more than 30,000 departures."
Regarding luggage, Delta also works on this, in order to prevent passengers from reporting lost luggage when they then fly. Bastian said that because of problems in European hubs, the luggage connection was difficult, but on July 11, Delta sent a ferry flight to recover lost luggage in London.
"We had a separate charter just to repatriate the bags to customers, which were blocked due to some of the operational problems that European airports had," added Bastian.
Traveling after the summer season could be more affordable.
The airline also announced a profit of $ 735 million for the last quarter, according to the points guy. This suggests that passengers have not been dissuaded by higher prices set by the airline to compensate for other expenses. And president of DeltaGlen Hauenstein suggested that they do not provide for this thirst for travel to be extinguished in the immediate future.
"Momentum has accelerated throughout the June quarter, allowing the recovery of higher fuel prices," he said. "We find that demand and price strength are transported at the end of summer and fall because the demand remains strong."
But according to Bastian, all hope is not lost with regard to the prices of theft. Later during the July 13 call, Bastian hinted that prices could drop by fall, the points guy reported.
"We believe that there is a lot of repressed request for people who may not have arrived in summer or who have defeated in summer, who will be able to travel in the fall," said Bastian.
So, if you have not yet reserved your summer getaway and you can plan for later this year, it could be worth waiting.
