Doing this inside your home could make you sick, warn scientists

It may be time to enter new habits at home.

According to a 2009 article in the journalEnvironmental sciences and technology, about a third of dirt, dust and domestic toxins that accumulate in your home areoutdoors. This accumulation of outdoor dirt does not appear alone. It is rather followed by people wearing shoes inside.

A study published in theJournal of Cleaning Science examined the germs collected on shoes andFound harmful bacteria on 96% of shoes. While exposure to a certain amount of inner dirt and bacteria canBe good for you, the evidence is clear: wearing shoes inside is dangerous for your health.

To help decontaminate the air inside your home, Stoiber and the EWG suggest the vacuum cleaner with a machine that includes a high -efficiency filter absorbing particles (HEPA), regularly dusting your home with a microfiber cloth humid and using a high quality filter in your HVAC system.

Of course, to prevent chemicals and potentially harmful germs from entering your home first, the best thing to do is get into the habit of launching your shoes before relaxing at home.
