Ben Bikman, PhD, conducts a laboratory of biology and physiology in Brigham Young University and is the author ofWhy we fall ill: the hidden epidemic of most chronic diseases - and how to fight it. Bikman's research focuses largely oninsulin resistance and systemic diseases often related to weight gain andobesity.

Bikman recently contributed to the content of the website for a local television station of Salt Lake City, KSL.com. There, he discussed what he thinks of being keys toHealth optimization, Metabolism and weight management.

Among its key tips, Bikman indicated that enough sleep is important to handle weight, because sleep helps the body regulate hormone levels. He also stated that regular exercises are needed in any form that encourages you to move ... but without quality sleep, the exercise alone will probably not provide maximum profit.

With regard to the diet, Bikman spoke of an element of eating that he said is "absolutely essential" to manage the weight: keeping low blood glucose.

Science has shown one of the reasons for this is due when blood sugar - fluently known as "blood glucose", it is too high, the body must find something to do with this extra sugar. At this point, the excess sugar in the blood is converted into bold.

Bikman suggests concentrating a diet on protein and healthy fat, while limiting sugar consumption, can help maintain stable blood glucose while helping you feel full and energetic throughout the day.
