Discover these crazy photos of the flood of Paris
Paris does not burn.
Paris can be the city of love and the city of light, but now, it is also the city of the dangerous rise in water levels.
The whole city is in flooded alert, a week of torrential rain brought the Seine to break banks. The flood should continue until Saturday, when the water levels of the famous river that serpe through the center of the city should reach 20 feet, which is at 16 feet above its normal level. Fortunately, after that, the dry weather is in the forecasts.
At present, however, Paris has been experiencing its worst floods since 1910, when the Seine has reached 27 feet, forcing the inhabitants of the city to evacuate their homes.
There are many hidden treasures in the basement of the Louvre, which must now be moved for conservation. The flood pushed a lot of rats from the river, turning the streets in a real sewer. Parisians are cooling about it. AsBy France 24, "It does not mean that there are no more of them, only we see them more often," said Pierre Falgayrac, an expert in urban rodents, who says that the capital now houses "1.75 rats for each Parisian ".
Despite biblical rain, you can not beat Paris. "Of course, the floods [on] made us upset because we do not have the cruises of the Seine", a touristtold France 24. "I love Paris anyway."
