It's the surprising literary origin of the joke

Chances are, one of the first jokes you have ever learned started with the world's most famous opening configuration: "hitting hit". Obviously, the Knock-strike scene of Bard was not supposed to be funny - and its hearings of the seventeenth century did not leave the performance claimedly claimed to hit the doors of the other. Yet it was a start.
The next interpretation of the strike-strike joke only approached about 1900. And even at that time, the format was a little different. This time, the joke started with the phrase "Do you know?" For example, the next joke was popular, wrote a journalist simply McEuvoy in a 1922 issue of theOakland Tribune, as reportedNpr:
