The only thing "Shark Tank's" Daymond John wants to have learned earlier

In addition, why you need what Mogul fashion calls "healthy paranoia".

Travel from Daymond John from Queens, New York Streets, Multimillionaire Global Mogul, Best Seller Author and Star-Star - You will recognize it as a dynamic co-host, Headstrong and Dapper from the show of Reality Hit ABCShark aquarium-Was all that nothing except one thing. In fact, if his life and his career were the subject of an MBA course, he would probably be entitled "Never abandon 101."

More recently, the television star revealed in an interview withHello America That he has survived a cancer brush. "I had a large physique and discovered that there was a nodule on the thyroid," said John told Robin Roberts of GMA on his cancer of the second stage (which means he was still Content in the gland and that it was not yet extended to its lymph nodes). But while the rest of us could fear to receive such a diagnosis, John says he "did not jump a beat".

"I had it removed," he continued. "I did not miss anything, I was partying and dancing two days later, not that I should."

Just say that John has a long story to challenge expectations and playing through its own rules. In 20 years, in the 1990s, the aspiring designer took $ 40 of fabric - that he personally fashioned in a collection of wool hats and $ 800 for sales of the night. This Frond border planted the seeds of a fashion career in which he simply refused to accept failure. He worked as a server, Maxed-Out credit cards, even mortghed his mother's house. A few years ago lucky tags - later, and John was Founder and President of Fubu, sitting at the top of a fashion empire with more than $ 6 billion in sales. Today, it is not only as busy as ever, but it is also hungry as ever to expand its assets, to challenge and continue to evolve.

We caught up the "godfather of urban fashion" earlier this year to discuss his unique motivation concept of "healthy paranoia", why the entrepreneurial spirit is "great equalizer" of humanity and the only thing he wants to know like a young man. And for larger career tips, here's howprosper as a leader of the first time.

How do you define success?

I do not think there is a global vision of success. Winning my first million million, buying the big house and having a family are brands of success, but it realizes that I have not just lost 15 years of work. So, there are levels of success and you must have a healthy paranoia to continue moving to reach the next.

You mentioned that success must involve "a healthy paranoia". What is an example of that?

When things are not going well [in my business], I tried other companies. Losing oneself is a brand of success. I came to understand that I know I can do something similar and even bigger ... that I have a career in this case.

What do you find rewarding about work?

Be able to use 50 people from my neighborhood. Knowing that I helped people, allowed them to build lives, buy houses, raise children who are good people. It's extremely rewarding.

You did not really have this kind of opportunity to start. What do you want you to have or knew whenever you want or if you were younger?

I would like to have a financial intelligence. I would like to know how to work with the silver tool. When I look at where my path was disturbed, it was mainly due to not having financial intelligence.

And you know 90% of us do not have it. "What is aggravating interest?" "What is depreciation?" We should educate our children into financial intelligence at the first ages. Studies show that we would not have as much student loan and loan debt.

And you would have any more successShark aquarium The candidates!

Entrepreneurship is accountable. This is the number one equalizer. It takes racism and prejudices of the equation. This helps people stand alone. This can change governments. This can change what's going on in the houses. This reduces domestic violence.

You are obviously passionate about it. And you have been appointed Ambassador of the World Entrepreneurship by President Obama. What would you like your inheritance to be?

First, I want my children to be proud of what their father has done. I think I can change people's lives using more people and helping them realize their own dreams and educate. It's really something we do onShark aquarium. You knowMark CubanHe does not need to make the show. But when he discovered that the show is number one with parents and children watching together, it was important. When a child wants to become a shark, when he understands the value of work and respects what mom and dad are day and day after day, it's the real reward of the show.
