The rowing machine is the only one effectivecardio machine in any gym. Scientists from Dublin University have found that men burn up to 50% more fat on rowers than on stationary bicycles. "It's simple mathematics," says Paul Robbins, former metabolic specialist in athlete's performance in Arizona and Elite Performance Director in LLC stats, a sports company. "The rowers work the whole body and the muscles you use, the more calories are burning."

But that does not mean you should use rowers exclusively. A better plan is to divide your time between several machines.

The next time you are in the gym, spend 10 minutes each on the treadmill, the airdyne ring (the one with handles that puncture from the forward), the stair climber and the rower. "You will work more muscles of more angles and send your metabolism in Overdrive," says Robbins. "You will also be less likely to caress after 20 minutes." The researchers at the University of Florida agree. In their study of 61 men and women, they found that people who mixed their routines benefited from more than 15% more than those who did not do it. The former group was also 20% more likely to exercise regularly. Remember: an excellent cardio is a crucial part of the fall10 pounds before July 4th.
