The FDA warns consumers of this kind of hand disinfectant

The Agency has received information on disinfectant packaging that makes it look like food or drink.

On August 27, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released another warning to consumers on potentially hazardous purchases. The Agency has received manual disinfectant reports packaged tolook like food or drink.

A sanitizer reported by the consumer is packed in what appeared to be a bottle of water. An unnamed retailer told the FDA that they encountered "a disinfecting hands marketed with cartoons for children in a pocket that looked like a snack." The agency itself claims to have found a disinfectant of the hands sold in "Beer Canes, Kids Food Pouches, Water Bottles, Juice Bottles and Vodka bottles". Food aromas had been added to some.

Packing a non-food product so that it can be confused with something edible is obviously extremely dangerous, especially for children who are easily attracted by bright packaging. The disinfectant of the ingested hands can lead to "heart effects, effects on the central nervous system, hospitalizations and death", by the FDA. Even a small amount can be deadly to a child.

"I am more and more concerned about the disinfectant of packed hands to appear consumable products, such as baby foods or drinks," said FDA CommissionerStephen Hahn, MD. "These products could confuse consumers accidentally ingest a potentially fatal product. It is dangerous to add perfumes with flavors of food disinfectants that children could think of food, eat and have an alcohol poisoning . "

Liberation does not indicate where the items have been purchased or appointing manufacturers involved. But, while the FDA is investigating these products, they urge consumers to be extremely cautious when buying. Avoid unknown brands and carefully read labels, especially if you have children at home.
