99% of hospitalized people for COVID in 2021 have in common

New research has found a link between those hospitalized with COVID over the last four months.

During the last year, tens of thousands of people in the United States have beenhospitalized after contracting Covid. But with generalized access to COVID vaccines, the number of serious cases has decreased considerably in 2021. Disease control and prevention centers (CDC) reported that only about 1,780 people in the United States werehospitalized last week For COVID, compared to a peak of more than 6,000 in December. Of course, the virus is far from content, and some people are still sick enough to need medical intervention. According to a new study, there is one thing that almost all hospitalized people for Covid in 2021 have in common: they are not completely vaccinated.

Clinic Cleveland analyzed data forInfections and Hospitalizations of Covid In the last four months for people at different stages of the vaccination process, as indicated by theAkron Beacon Journal. According to the study, nearly 4,300 Covid-19 admissions in clinic hospitals between January 1 and April 13, more than 99.75% were patients who were not fully vaccinated. By the CDC, people areconsidered entirely vaccinated Two weeks after their second dose of the Pfizer or Modern vaccine, or two weeks after a single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Researchers also examined COVID cases of 47,000 Ohio employees, where nearly 2,000 employees have been tested positive this year. They found that most of those infected with COVID over the last four months were also unvaccinated. According to the study, 99.7% of infections took place between those who were not vaccinated, while only 0.3% of infections occurred between employees who were fully vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna.

According to Cleveland.com, these data suggest that Pfizer and Moderna are more than 96% effective atInfection. These results are even higher than what the CDC reported at the end of March, which felt that vaccines were90% effective under real conditions.

Donald Dumford, MD, the Medical Director of Infection Control for Cleveland Clinic Akron GENERAL who was not involved in the study, told theAkron Beacon JournalWhether data from Cleveland clinic show that the risk of being infected or hospitalized is significantly lower after being fully vaccinated. He also stated that data should help people who hesitant to get the vaccine consider the benefits of being vaccinated.

"The vaccine we know is very safe. It's a new vaccine, but it's not a new technology and we know in safety studies ... and extremely effective," said Dmford. "The way for us to start coming back to normal life is to have as many people as possible to be protected from the virus. The vaccine is the best way to do it."

The CDC reported that a small number ofPeople become COVID Even after being fully vaccinated, however. But revolutionary cases only arrive with a "small percentage" and are expected with any vaccine, the notes of the agency. The CDC also says that it is likely that if you get COVID after vaccination, your case will not be serious or need for hospitalization. Dumford agreed that the small number of revolutionary cases it was noted was "very mild" compared to unvaccinated patients. Overall, the study shows that those who are vaccinated are far, much less likely to get the disease than those that are not, "he said.
