According to American disease control centers in prevention data (CDC), theThe national average of seven days increased by 72,790 New vaccinations on July 30th. This exceeds the average peak of the last summer of about 68,700, but it was months before vaccines are widely available for the public.
"Although we desperately wanted to be done with this pandemic, Covid-19 is clearly not made with us and therefore, our battle must last a little longer,",Rochelle Walensky, MD, director of the CDC, said at a briefing of the White House Covid on August 2 while discussing the national surge. "It's hard. It's heavy. But, we are together. And as we learn more about Covid, we continue to rely on proven means of protecting us, our children and our loved ones."

"I think what we see again time and time ... with Covid-19 is that it will throw curves to us," said Murthy, pointing out that the Delta variant "is the last curve curve" to affect the trajectory of the pandemic. "And what we need to be ready to do is increase our rhythm of vaccination while we use mitigation measures, including masks," he added.
