A new study published on August 16 in theRegional anesthesia and pain medicine Journal watched the associationbetween pain and dementia. Researchers used data of more than 2,400 participants who received full controls, which included detailed pain assessments - between 1990 and 1994, and then divided them into three pain groups: widespread pain, other pain in the joints only and no pain. The widespread pain is classified as pain above and below the size, left and right of the body, and in the skull, spine and ribs, according to criteria of the American College of Rheumatology.

On the basis of the study, those with widespread pain were 47% more likely to have Alzheimer's disease than without, even after taking any other potential factor. These people were also even more at risk compared to people with another pain in the joints only.
