Doctors discover a new way Covid-19 can kill you

A new study has a glimpse of the reason some CIVID-19 infections include perplexed neurological symptoms.

An aspect of the Covid-19 virus that has left many doctors and perplexed health experts is the impact of the virus on the brain. Some coronavirus-36% patients according to Wuhan's first reports, China-knewNeurological events after contracted the virus, ranging from a loss of sense of smell to crises and shots even. New research from Johns Hopkins University claim to have a potential explanation for some of the scary symptoms resulting from coronavirus infections - the virus can actually be able to infect your brain.

Scientists used 'mini-brains'

Use organoids (tiny tissue crops based on human cells that simulate entire organs) known as "mini-brains", a multidisciplinary team of neurotoxicists, viologists and specialists of infectious disease of two academic institutions. Johns Hopkins found that Sars-Cov-2-the virus that cause Covid-19-can in fact, it can therefore be a brain infection. Their conclusions were published in the newspaperAltex: Alternatives to animal experimentation.

According to their conclusions, some human neurons express a receiver, ACE2, which is the same as the SARS-COV-2 virus uses to enter the lungs. They believe that ACE2 could also provide access to the brain.

They explain that the human brain is well shielded against many viruses, bacteria and chemical agents by the haemato-encephalic barrier. This generally prevents brain infections. However, they believe that this particular virus could have the power to do so.

"That the SARS-COV-2 virus passes or not, this barrier has not yet been shown," Head Author Thomas Hartung, MD, Ph.D., Speaker of evidence-based toxicology at the health school Bloomberg Public Explains in AccompanimentPress release. "However, serious inflammation is known, such as those observed in CIVID-19 patients, do the disintegration of the barrier."

If this is the case, the blood brain barrier difficult to penetrate can complicate the process of administering a brain drug.

Caution should be taken during pregnancy

This also raises a concern about the health of born babies because the virus could have the potential to penetrate the brain in development. Previous research at Paris Saclay University has shown that the virus passes through the placenta and embryos lack the blood-brain barrier at the beginning of development. "Be very clear," says Hartung: "We have no evidence that the virus produces developmental disorders." However, because of the potential, Hartung recommends that additional prudence be taken during pregnancy.

"This study is another important step in our understanding of how infection leads to symptoms and that we could address Covid-19 disease with drug treatment," says William Bishai, MD, Ph.D., Professor Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of university medicine and head of the infectious team of study disease. "There is no doubt that the virus infects neurons and multiplies, and we must now know what it means for patients and public health."

Regardless of your race, wear your face mask, from the social distance, wash your hands frequently, watch your health, do not leave at home unless it is essential and cross this pandemic with your healthiest, do not miss thoseThings you should never do during the coronavirus pandemic.
