The White House document shows 18 states in the Red Zone of Covid-19 '

The unpublished document recommends more stringent locking procedures.

A document prepared for the working group on the Coronavirus of the White House, but not computerized suggests more than a dozen states should return to more stringent protective measures, limiting social gatherings to 10 people or less than Closing bars and gyms and asking residents to wear masks at any time.

This article on thecoronavirus red zonewas originally published by thePublic integrity center, a non-profit newsroom based in Washington, D.C.

The document, dated July 14 and obtained by the Public Integrity Center, said 18 states are in the "Red Zone" for Covid-19 cases, which means they had more than 100 new cases Per 100,000 inhabitants last week. Eleven states are in the "red zone" for testing the tests, which means that more than 10% of the results of the diagnostic tests have returned positive.

Arizona, California, Florida and Texas in the red zone

It includes county data and reflects the Trump administration insistence that states and counties should take the lead in response to coronaviruses. The document has been shared within the federal government but does not seem to be publicly displayed.

Dr. Deborah Birx, leader of the working group,Referenced an earlier versionOf what seems to be the same relationship - it said has been updated weekly and sent to the governors - in a press conference of July 8 in which Vice President Mike Pence urged local leaders to open schools in autumn. She saidArizona, California, Florida and TexasAmong the states, the working group followed carefully and that "a series of other states" was also in the red zone and should consider limiting gatherings.

It is clear that some states do not follow the advice of the working group. For example, the document recommends to Georgia, in the red zone for cases and the positivity of the tests ", at the level of the mandate of fabric face blankets outside the house." But Gov. Brian KempSigned an order WednesdayProhibit localities for masks.

All 18 report states

In May, the World Health Organization recommended that governments ensure that testing rates were at 5% or less for 14 days before reopening. A COVID-19 tracker from Johns Hopkins University shows that 33 states wereAbove this recommended positivityon July 16th.

"If the test positivity rate is greater than 10%, it means that we do not work attenuating the epidemic," said Jessica Malaty Rivera, scientific communication leads to theCOVID monitoring project, a volunteer organization launched by Atlantic journalists. "Ideally, we want the test positivity rate to be less than 3% because it shows that we delete Covid-19."

The White House and the KEMP did not respond to requests for comments on Thursday.
