The best and worst menu items at Johnny Rockets
Shakes in burger with salads, these are the most and least nutritious meals at the 1950s style dinner, according to a registered dietitian.
Johnny Rockets is a 1950-style American dinner of the 1950s that servesClassic burgers andshaker next to the more modern offers, such asturkey burgers and Chile cheese. Although occasional treatment is good for the soul, it can be a bit discouraging to eat in a traditional dinner when looking for healthier and more nutritional options. And with everything, sandwiches and hamburgers with tremors and salads, the Johnny Rockets menu has many options for you.
So, what should you and should not you order? We talked with Leeann Smith Weintraub, MPH, RD ofHalf a cup, andMascha davis, Mph, rdn, private practice registered diediotian nutritionist and author ofEat your vitaminsFor advice on meals at Johnny Rockets are the most nutritious, as well as those who reserve as special treats.
Entrances
Worst: Chile Cheese Tots
Although the starters are intended to share, they can always be unhealthy, even after their division into smaller portions. This is especially true for chili cheese earlifts, which have 1,230 calories for a single portion. Add in the 90 grams of fat and nearly 4,000 milligrams of sodium (more than theAmerican Heart AssociationThe ideal consumption of 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day) and each person who has had his part could simply feel a little nauseous before their entrepreneurs are even served.
"A portion has 790 calories from grease, including 30 grams are saturated fats," says Davis. "They are also charged with cholesterol, with 70 grams per serving. To aggravate things, they are packaged with sodium, [put] this meal so above all the daily amount that anyone should eat."
Best: fries
If the table is looking to split a classic starter but does not want to feel ballooned later, Weintraub simply recommends to enter one side of the fries for 190 calories. Although it is still heavy on sodium, the quantity is a fraction of what is in the other entrances and is perfectly suitable for moderation when associated with a healthy and balanced meal.
Hamburgers
Worst: Smokehouse Double Patty Turkey Burger
Many people like to order Turkey burgers when they want the tasty and comforting flavors of a hamburger with fewer calories and fat. However, this menu option has shocked even our dietary experts.
"Surprisingly, Turkey's hamburger is higher in calories," says Weintraub, comparing this option with some of other beef burgers, such as single rocket. You could eat nearly six rocket beef burgers for the same amount of calories as the double Patty Turkey Burger Smokehouse. While we do not recommend eating six of something on this menu, if you look at your diet, this choice proves that you should not just assume that the Burger turkey is the best option!

Best: Simple Burger Rocket
No doubt the hero product of Johnny Rockets, this Burger offers many varieties of this restaurant chain. Johnny Rockets offers several Patty options, then get in classic beef, at Boca Veggie or Gardein Veggie on a wheat bun. Not sure what a galette choose? Davis recommends going with Veggie if you can.
"This hamburger is an excellent alternative with only 360 calories per serving," said Davis. "The sodium is lower compared to many other menu items with 860 milligrams per serving - this remains high, but vegetables can help balance high sodium rates. Veggie burger has 20 grams of protein."
For those who do not make beef, it's strong tips, but if you are a meat eater, the classic beef cake is the way forward.
Salads
Worst: Crispy chicken club salad with a thousand dressing of the island
On several occasions, you will find salads in restaurants to be some of the menu's less nutritious options because they are loaded with salty trim, cheese, preservatives and dressings. This is clearly the case with the crispy chicken club salad, especially when associated with a thousand dressing of the island.
"This salad has 670 calories per serving, more than the McDonald Big Mac," said Davis. "Most calories come from the vinaigrette, like the same salad without dressing has only 420 calories. Do not forget to choose your dressings wisely!"
Best: grilled chicken club salad
Although there are certainly less heavy and less nutritious salads available, it is always possible to find better options for you and Johnny Rockets, Davis recommends grilled chicken club salad.
"With 400 calories per serving, this salad is a lighter option," says Davis. "It is low in carbohydrates and 50 grams of protein. It is rich in vitamins A and C, and it is also a good source ofcalcium andiron. "Davis and Weintraub encourage guests to choose a lightweight dressing, or you could venture into an unhealthy territory. Engage to options such as balsamic vinaigrette or fatty Italian.
Sandwiches and more
Worse: Sandwich at the fried chicken club
This sandwich features chicken tenders with thick apple smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on leaven bread, which are together clocks in nearly 1,000 calories and nearly 2,000 milligrams sodium. At any time, you know that there is fried chicken involved, your meal enters automatically between an "inhalant" territory, and that does not even correspond to the fact that typically there are also French fries on the side, adding more sodium and calories.
Best: grilled chicken sandwich
If you head to Johnny Rockets for lunch or dinner, grilled chicken breast sandwich is the best sandwich offers. "It has 550 calories and 40 grams of protein, so it's really filling," says Davis. "The sodium is 640 milligrams, which is much lower than most of their other objects."
Shaker
Worst: shake peanut butter with malt powder
Milkshakes will always be an indulgent dessert, which is especially true at Johnny Rockets. The iconic restaurant shakes range from 550 calories for a child size to 1,200 for a regular shake. "These shakes provide half a day of calories in a single cup," Weintraub said, and peanut butter with malt powder is proof of this, entering more than 1,200 calories. Yikes. And, as you can imagine, the amount of sugar in this drink is extremely high.
"The recommended quantity [of sugar] for women is 25 grams a day, while for men, it is 37," says Davis. This drinks 90-gram clocks.
Best: Milkshake Banana
Unfortunately, for your sweet tooth, Weintraub and Davis agree that none of the shakes can be considered the best in terms of nutritional value. "There is no good shaker," said Davis. "Even the children I would not recommend."
While it is best to yield the shakes workforce completely, if you are looking for more nutritious options, treat yourself to split a smaller guy with some friends and family at the table with you. The best of unhealthy options? Milana Milethake. It is equally high in sugar, coming to 80 grams. Davis emphasizes that "a Krispy Kreme Donut has 10 grams of sugar", then even this little milkshake is equivalent to eight donuts if we examine the sugar content.
