Cacahuets and coke: why put salty peanuts in the coke is not as crazy as it sounds
There is something to say for the sweet salt combination.
Take me at the Balgame ... So that I can put peanuts in a coke container? The combination may seem strange for Norders, but peanuts and coke are a classic pair in the south. Intrigued by the unlikely pair, we decided to test it for ourselves. Here is what we thought of the bonning / drinking combo.
How do you do peanuts and coke?
The way we tried was quite simple: we put peanuts (in this case, salt peanut plants) in individual cups and then poured the coke on them. (If you eat this snack at a baseball game, however, it works as well to throw salted peanuts in a cup of coke.)
The soda immediately celebrated around peanuts, taking the salt of them in the process. The result was a cup of soda which was literally complete nuts. The smell was not the most appetizing - it was like peanut butter that had turned wrong.
According to the legend (and theNational Peanut Council), the combo was invented for more convenience, rather than snack. As the story happens, workers performing a manual workforce could pour individual peanut packets into coke bottles and continue working without having to wash your hands. Whatever the origin, this is definitely a convenient snack on the hand that you can create in any gas station or bodega.
Do the peanuts and coke have a taste?
Only two of my colleagues were willing to try this southern delicacy and the results were mixed. A publisher, who rings from South Carolina, loved the taste, calling the perfect salty combo. She was more than willing to finish her portion of Coca and-Cacahuètes - and she said she was trying again this snack in the future too.
The other two of us, however, were less convinced. None of us had the salty taste in the coke - it just tasted like a regular coke, with intermittent bites of non-salty peanuts. (I decided to leave mine marrying a little longer to see if the salt would settle, but it simply did not taste like a flat coke and peanuts slightly soggy at that time.)
Nevertheless, I finished the cup away while sitting at my desk. I like coke, and I love peanuts, while the combo raised neither of them in my opinion, they are always perfectly enjoyable.

Everything is about this Sweet-Salé combo
When it really comes back, peanuts and coke may not be so strange a pair you might think. You have probably had sea salt cookies or brownies, or a caramel salt drink. So, why is the salty and sweet mix of nuts and soda different?
There is a great reason why salty and sweet snacks taste together together together. "The receivers responsible for the transport of sugars to cells can only do so with present sodium," Certified Dietitian and ChiefJessica Swift explained to us. "Research suggests that this could be the reason why we respond so well to the soft and salty combination."
Even though I did not find the salty taste of peanuts and coke to be as strong as expected, I can certainly see the call behind this snack. I will continue to eat my peanuts and my cocharges separately, but there is something to say for unlikely pair.
