Turkish New Calorie Eve Sandwich Recipe
A twist on oversized Deli staple that is not half a day of calories.
For anyone spent time eating in New York, Reubènes invariably evokes the image of oversizedDeli Sandwich Stacked so high with pewterbeef You would need an irrefutable snake jaw just to get your teeth around him - and a generous belt for adjusting the size in the post-Prandale suite. We have taken the indulgent essence of the Jewish flap of charcuterie and distillate it to a sandwich with substance and soul, but without half a day of calories and a day and a half fat Saturated, which is exactly what counts almost all major institutions their version.

Serves 4
You will need
1/4 cup of ketchup
1/4 cup of miyonal olive oil
2 c.
Few dashes TABASCO sauce
Black pepper to taste
1 LB Turkey Pastrami (or, failing that, ordinary Turkey)
4 slices of low-fat Swiss cheese
8 slices of grilled rye bread
1 cup of bottle sauerkraut
How to do it
- Combine Ketchup, Mayo, Taste and Tabasco in a bowl and mix. Season with a little black pepper. Place the goconne aside. (Note: You can always ignore this step and buy a bottle of Russian vinaigrette or a thousand island, but it's never as good as home stuff.)
- Divide the pastrami into four portions, stack on plates and up each with a slice of cheese. Microwave briefly, about 30 seconds each, to melt the cheese.
- Arrange four slices of rye bread on a cutting board. Top each with sauerkraut then Pastrami and cheese. Sprinkle with the dressing. Top with the remaining slices of bread.
Eat
Even if our Ruben seeks to be a healthier version than that of your local deli, it should not prevent you from picking up some slices of Turkey Pastrami to your local grocery store. Just make sure you follow the advice of this recipe to order your version as a healthier version!
