While many of us can not travel internationally at this time, we dream of our future vacations and we hope to jump at the moment when we finally can reserve them. Our first stop? The precious lost gardens of Heligan, residing near Mevagissey in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

This treasure of the United Kingdom is one of the most popular botanical gardens of all time, and there is a reason for it once you see these amazing photos of sculptures and plants. The Gardens of Heligan were created by the Tremayne family of Cornwall, at the beginning of the 18th century. After being neglected after the First World War, they were only restored in the 1990s, but they became the largest restoration project of Gardens in Europe.

The activity stagnated during the First World War because most of the gardeners who maintained the land alive were sent to fight in the war, and not many of them returned, so the gardens fell into a sad state before the restoration years later.

Visitors can soak up the huge camellias and rhododendros that overlook a series of lakes of a century of antiquity and different gardens. One of the favorites is the one known as "The Jungle" and is a wild zone composed of subtropical tree ferns in which you want to miss forever. This area has a jungle rope bridge that will transport you to a land of tropical wonders, Costa Rica maybe?

For those who are accustomed to the lugubrious climate of the United Kingdom, they can escape the only exterior jungle from all over the country. The views and structures of the garden were created carefully so you can just use your imagination. Walk through a high tunnel of bamboo while the earth becomes your muse.

And this garden is not just for its appearance, it is a garden of fruits and vegetables that offers fresh products for sale. That is much better than a trip to the farmers market, in our opinion.

There is a dream pineapple pit in this 200-acre area, which is a pineapple culture method in a colder climate. There are no longer many of these in the United Kingdom.

You can make a virtual tour in Heligan.com before going on the plane, eventually.

The Kitchen Garden, the walled garden of Flores and Melon Yard show exotic plants that normally live far from the United Kingdom, but you can also find the classic rotation of Victorian crops.

If the romance is your thing, take a look at Pleasure Grounds, which has been established as a 200-year-old romance center thanks to its structures, all of them joined by historical roads. A famous member of Norther Gardens is the Witches' Brooms, which is a huge and old Douglas fir tree, with great growth that resembles the broom of a witch.

If the butterflies and bees please give you a look at The Sundial Garden, full of heritage flowers and tranquilistic works of art. Apart from these gardens, is the Heligan Estate farm, full of hay meadows and ancient pastures with which you have only dreamed.

On this farm, you can see the award-winning wildlife, and even work with a rescue of hedgeons to provide the urchins who have been rehabilitated a permanent home. There is also an insect hotel, and a black bees observation hive. Along with all this, come and say hello to the other feathered friends who call home to the farm.

Children visitors (and lovers of animals) will love to greet the geese, ducks, livestock and chickens that live while living in harmony. It is clear that, although maintained by humans, the flora and fauna are the true bosses of this land, and it makes sense! It belonged to them first after all.

And finally, but definitely not less important: sculptures. These iconic sculptures are integrated into the nature that surrounds them, more notably Mud Maid, Mud Maid, and Giant's Head, who all adorn Woodland Walk. One of her resembles a woman lying on her side, with foliage growing over her that she looks like clothes and hair.
