Anna Koshmal has long ceased to be just “that same Zhenya” from the cult “Matchmakers”. Today she is a mature, strong and sincere actress, for whom the stage and camera are not just a job, but a way to speak to the world. Anna recently turned 40, and her story is an example of how you can remain yourself, even when your usual life is crumbling around you.

Anna was born in Kyiv, in an ordinary family: her father is a military man, her mother is a teacher. Since childhood, the girl had a craving for the stage: she sang, danced, and participated in school concerts. Later she entered the Kiev University of Culture and Arts - and plunged headlong into the world of theater.

The turning point was the role of the rebel Zhenya Kovaleva in “Matchmakers.” She was only sixteen then. On the set, there are famous actors next to her. They saw before them a young, sincere girl who did not yet know that in a few years these same people would find themselves on the side of evil.

After the outbreak of a full-scale war, Anna cut off all ties with her Russian colleagues. She honestly admitted that it was incredibly painful for her to realize how those she respected were justifying the murders of Ukrainians.

But this point was not the end, but the beginning. Nightmare did not disappear from the screens, did not run away from her profession. On the contrary, it was as if she had been reborn. Today in her works there is more truth, more pain and light at the same time. She played in “Daddy 2”, “Servant of the People”, “Castle on the Sand”, “Journey to Happiness”. On the theater stage, Anna feels at home - where every word and every look is born here and now, without takes or editing.

In addition to her career, the actress has her own safe haven: family. Her husband Ivan is her support and rear, although Anna prefers not to make personal things public. The couple has two children: son Mikhail, who is already seven years old, and baby Sofia, born in March 2025.
