"Nothing cures": the confession of Borys Barskyi, who taught Ukraine to laugh, but himself experienced the worst

Barsky knew how to make people laugh, but behind the scenes he always remained a subtle, deep person who sees not only comedy in life, but also drama.

Borys Barskyi is one of those whom Ukraine calls its own without any doubt. Everyone knew his jokes, even from the time of "Masks", when the TV was lit with good, Odessa humor - lively, sincere, without cynicism. Barsky knew how to make people laugh, but behind the scenes he always remained a subtle, deep person who sees not only comedy in life, but also drama.

He is 66. And, looking back, he sees not just success and fame, but many moments when it was love and loved ones that saved him from darkness.

A love that has endured for decades

His wife Natalya is a non-public person, but she is behind all the actor's victories. They met in the Odesa pantomime studio back in 1980. She was a costume designer at the time, he was a young actor who dreamed of theater and comedy. Natalya, a chemist by education, gave up a career in science and chose something else — to be next to her husband, who lives on stage. "Without her, I simply couldn't stand it," Barsky admitted in many interviews.

Children are the greatest pride and the greatest pain

Their daughter Anastasia was born in 1983, and their son Konstantin was born a year later. The family was a real center of happiness: evenings with jokes, songs and long conversations about everything in the world. But in 2010, life was divided into "before" and "after".

Kostya, who was only 25, passed away after a long illness. Barsky does not hide that this pain will never go away. "They say time heals... No, it just teaches you to breathe with pain inside," says the actor. It was after this loss that he became even closer to people who lost their children in the war.

Nastya is a continuation of his strength

Anastasia did not follow her father's path, but inherited his inner fire. She knows English, Spanish, Greek, worked at a university, engaged in tourism, logistics, and then became a programmer. "My daughter is as strong as armor," says Barsky.

New chapter - grandfather in times of war

In 2022, in the middle of the war, he became a grandfather. His granddaughter Valentina was born in Bulgaria - a bright girl who brought new joy to the family. Three months later, mother and daughter returned to Odessa.

"I look at Valentina and realize that life still wins," says Barsky.

And maybe that's why his smile is even warmer today. She is not just comic - she is human. She has experience, love and gratitude for those who stayed close.

So, Boris Barsky made the country laugh, but he himself went through unbearable pain. The death of his son, years of silent struggle... His life is a story of love, loss and the amazing power to remain human, even when it seems the world is falling apart.
