What are the cheapest grocery stores across America?

To achieve their results, Netcredit first analyzed the prices of brand products (including those of Coca-Cola, Cheetos and Ben & Jerry’s) in more than 2,000 grocery stores. From there, they reduced the list to 136 supermarket chains "in hundreds of cities across the country and found the cheapest stores, on average, in each state and big city", according to the report.

They also gathered Instacart data to calculate "the average price per article with each chain of each city / state". A complete analysis crowned Target or Walmart as "the most affordable supermarket" in 23 of the 50 states.

“The rise in food prices has made the Americans of everyday more proactive to find the cheapest option for the grocery store. While global events hinder the path of the farm at the table, many consumers have found their own "supply chain". Stores and suppliers also adapt, "wrote Netcredit in the report.

An interactive tool also allows users to locate the cheapest supermarket chain in their condition. You can even go further and search by the city (145 major American cities have been added to the database so far).

Elsewhere in the report, Netcredit analyzed supermarket prices in the 20 main American cities. It was a draw between Target and Walmart, which combined was half the list.

For New Yorkers, a basket of names of names costs 31% less at Walmart than "the average in all the big grocery stores in New York". In San Antonio, H-E-B grocery store is almost 12% cheaper than local competition.
