South's daughter touched the sky of glamor

Born on 13 August 1936 in Chennai, Vyjayanthimala belonged to a reputed Iyengar Brahmin family. His father MD Raman and mother Vasundhara Devi, who was the famous actress and skilled dancer of her time, gave her a rich cultural heritage. Since her mother was busy with her acting career, her grandmother, Yadugiri Devi took over the responsibility of raising Vyjayanthimala. Nani not only taught him discipline, but also gave a deep understanding of Indian traditions, especially classical dance and culture, which strengthened the foundation of his personality.
It was not a small thing to perform Bharatanatyam in front of the Pope in Rome at the age of just four, but Vyjayanti did this. At an early age, she was proficient in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. Her grandmother was worried that going to films would miss Vyjayanti's dance and studies, but when director M.V. Raman assured that both studies and dances would continue, so Nani agreed.

Vaijayanthimala became the queen of Hindi cinema

The unmatched success of films like Bahar and Nagin made Vaijayanti a new face of Hindi cinema. He worked with veterans like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and made the audience crazy every time.
Chandramukhi's character in the film Devdas gave him a distinct identity, but when she was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, she rejected by saying that Chandramukhi is not an assistant character. She said that she would only accept the honor of the best actress.
Vyjayanthimala was awarded the Filmfare and Bengali Film Journalist Award for films like Ganga-Jamuna, Sangam, Sadhana and Sangharsh. In 1968, he was also awarded the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1982.

Love a doctor, fighting society and married

Vyjayanthimala met Dr. Chamanlal Bali, who was Raj Kapoor's personal physician after falling ill during a shooting in Mumbai. During the treatment, the proximity between the two grew and soon the relationship turned into love.
Doctor Bali was already married and had three sons, but he divorced his first wife and married Vyjayanth. After this, Vyjayanthimala, Vyjayanthimala became Bali. His son Suchindra Bali also tried his hand in films, but he could not get that success in Hindi cinema.
Dr. Chamanlal Bali passed away in 1986, and after that Vyjayanti started removing himself from films and public life.

History created in politics too

Vyjayanthimala stepped into politics from Congress due to close relations with Pandit Nehru and Indira Gandhi. He won again in 1984 after winning the Lok Sabha elections from South Chennai seat in 1984. She was sent to Rajya Sabha in 1993, but in 1999, she left the Congress and joined the BJP.
After this, Vyjayanthimala gradually distances from politics.
