≡ Form and length of female fingers can tell a lot about her sexual preferences》 heral beauty "/>

Sexual orientation is influenced by genetics, environment, hormonal influences and much more. Scientists from the University of Essex have published work in which they studied how the length of the fingers affects the sexual preferences of women.

The focus was in the spotlight and ring fingers, known as 2D and 4D. In women, their ratio is often closer to the “male” version - when the ring finger is noticeably longer. In heterosexual women, on the contrary, both fingers often have almost the same length. Or the index exceeds the length of the nameless.

According to scientists, the features of sexual attraction in women who prefer partners of their gender can be associated with an increased level of male hormones in the body during intrauterine development. In other words, such women can have more pronounced "male" biological characteristics compared to representatives of heterosexual orientation.

The situation with men turned out to be more complicated and ambiguous. Many participants who indicated a homosexual orientation or episodic manifestations of a single -sex attraction, the ratio of the length of the index and ring fingers turned out to be even more pronounced in the “male” type than that of heterosexual men. This may seem unexpected and funny, given the common stereotypes about gay femininity.

Nevertheless, the results of the study indicate that the increased effects of androgens during the period of intrauterine development can affect sexual preferences in men of non -traditional orientation. That is, the formation of sexual orientation begins in the womb and is associated with the level of testosterone that affects the fetus, as well as with the individual sensitivity of the body to this hormone. The higher influence of androgens at the stage of intrauterine development increases the likelihood of developing bisexuality or homosexuality.

However, do not perceive the long ring finger as an exact landmark. The low ratio of 2D: 4D, indeed, can indicate a stronger influence of testosterone even before birth, which, in turn, can affect behavior in adulthood. At the same time, due to a small number of participants in the experiment, it is difficult to draw unequivocal conclusions for everyone. Ultimately, 2D: 4D index is just an interesting scientific tool for studying the influence of hormones in the womb, but it cannot be used to diagnose or predict sexual orientation.
