Here's how Wallethub has reached their conclusions.
To achieve their conclusions, Wallethub has taken into account 150 of the most popular cities in America as well as at least two of the most populous areas of each state. They then marked the cities according to three categories and all their corresponding measures. There were a total of 41 measurements, each being marked on a scale of 100 points, with 100 representing the highest level of security. Wallethub used "the weighted average of each city in all measures to calculate its overall score".
Some of the aspects of the house and the community include the presence of terrorist attacks (which were weighted at three times the points), the assaults per capita, the crimes of hatred per capita and the deaths per capita. The category was worth a total of 50 points.
In the risk section of natural disaster, earthquakes, floods, hail, tornadoes or other events have represented 30 points.
The financial security category has mentioned measures, including the unemployment rate, the poverty rate, the share of households with emergency and others, at 20 points.
