It is easy to be tempted to buy all the different treats and toys available for dogs these days. But no matter how cute and fun they seem to be, they are not all good for Your puppy . That is why Adam Christman , DVM, a veterinarian and a popular influencer, brought social media to help parents to determine exactly what products they should avoid. Rope toys

If you are walking in the aisle of the toys of a pet store, Christman says that there is at least one section that you have to jump: rope toys.

Regarding the leash you buy your dog, Christman also has advice on what to avoid. According to the veterinarian, the retractable leashes are non-go. "Especially in the veterinary hospital," he notes.

In a Previous tiktok video From April 2022, Christman explained that the retractable leashes can "seriously" cause injuries to your ankles and your hands if you do not have good control over your dog. This is also why he recommends that animal owners speak to professionals of the type of leash, collar and harness to obtain for their specific pet.

Most dogs love collect sticks. You could therefore assume that their purchase of a wooden chewed toy would be a safer alternative than they find a random outside. But Christman advises these products after a painful experience at his clinic.

"I had a patient where a part of [a chewing toy of wood] was stuck in the hard palate," he said, warning that it can lead dogs to develop "an infection of Severe abscesses, several bursts in the legs and in the mouth and the cracked and cracked teeth. "

Apart from toys and leashes, Christman also has strong feelings about the snacks sold to dog owners. You should not be influenced by "any treat that has a product claim on [IT] for omega 3 and 6 fatty acids", depending on the veterinarian's video.

"Do not expect that it is sufficient to meet your dog's nutritional needs," said Christman. Instead, he recommends pet owners "check the inclusion rates and carry out the" themselves for treats, as well as to discuss with a veterinarian on a "diet or specific supplements" for their dogs.
