USPS suspends services in these states, effective immediately
The agency adjusted operations at several post offices due to the storms.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is no stranger to pick up deliveries Or closure of post offices when it's necessary. But while many circumstances can cause service disruptions, the most common are weather-related. Severe snowstorms, hurricanes and wildfires have caused several post offices to close over the past year. Now, the dangerous conditions are forcing the USPS to once again close more facilities across the country. Read on to find out where the agency is suspending services.

The USPS has just closed a post office in Michigan.
Some Michigan postal customers can no longer access their local post office. In an August 25 update to his Service Alerts Website , the USPS announced that it had suspended all operations at a facility in Potterville, Michigan. The Potterville Post Office is “temporarily closed due to a power outage and security concerns,” the agency said in its alert.
In a separate room Press release , the Postal Service explained that the safety concerns were caused by the damage caused by the storm and that the temporary closure was decreed "to ensure the safety of postal customers and employees" of the post office in Potterville.
“Customers can pick up their post office box mail at the Lansing Post Office during regular retail hours,” the USPS added. "La Poste apologizes for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause our customers."

Operations were also limited at other state facilities.
The Post Office in Potterville, Mich., isn't the only facility impacted by the recent inclement weather. As of August 25, the USPS has also restricted retail operations at 11 other post offices: Webberville, Williamston, Dimondale, Cohoctah, Cannonsburg, Grand Ledge, Lansing, Fowler, Saranac, Dansville and Clarksville. ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb
These suspensions came after at least seven tornadoes hit Michigan late last week during a barrage of severe storms, the Associated Press reported. According to the outlet, the strong winds killed five people, toppled countless trees, ripped roofs off buildings and left hundreds of thousands of customers without power.
When Better life contacted USPS to inquire about service suspensions, spokesperson Elizabeth Najduch said electricity and retail operations had just been restored at the 11 affected post offices.
The Potterville Post Office is still closed to customers, but is expected to "resume normal retail operations on August 29," according to Najduch.

The agency also just closed a facility in California.
Outside of Michigan, California Postal customers are also facing service outages. In a room Press release starting August 25, the USPS revealed that it had closed the Ygnacio Valley Post Office in Walnut Creek, California. The facility is "temporarily closed due to structural damage," according to the statement.
When Better life contacted the Postal Service to inquire about the damage, spokesperson Meiko Patton said the agency had no additional information to add at this time.
“We will reopen as soon as it is safe,” Patton said.
During the shutdown, the USPS is directing customers from the Ygnacio Valley Post Office to the main Walnut Creek Post Office to pick up their PO. Letter box.
"We apologize for this inconvenience to our clients," the agency said in its statement.

Another state post office was closed a few days earlier.
Other areas of California have also faced recent shutdowns. A few days earlier, on August 22, the USPS announced the closure of a facility in Los Angeles. The La Tijera post office is "temporarily closed for emergency repairs," according to the agency's service alerts update.
In another August 24 local press release , the Postal Service revealed that the post office was damaged by stormwater.
"A water infiltration caused by the recent storm has damaged the facilities of La Tijera," the agency said. "As a precaution, the building cannot be occupied during the repairs."
Operations have been temporarily moved to the Hawthorne Post Office during this closure.
"We apologize for this inconvenience," the USPS said in its statement. "This is only a temporary measure, and we will reopen the Post Office as soon as the repairs are done and everything is safe."
