Costco Shopper says he never shows a receipt at the exit - here's why

If you shop at a wholesale store Like Costco, there is a good chance that you were invited to show your receipt by leaving with your purchases. The retailers have these policies in place to ensure that buyers pay for their basket - and for the most part, it is easy enough to flash your receipt and go on your way. In a video published last week, the user of Tiktok @kerneldump discussed the policy to show receipts in stores and why he does not like to put his back physical copy .
Tiktoker - which BIO indicates that it creates content on the network, systems, clouds and security engineering - explains that it is "this type" for employees because it will not show its receipts .
"I understand, they are trying to prevention of losses," he said, noting that he likes to scan and store his receipts when he returns home. "I hate when I go to one of these supermarkets or one of these clubs and take a Sharpie and they write throughout my receipt, because it spoils my ability to scan it."
In the other department stores of retailers, @kerneldump says that he simply tells employees "No, thank you" when they ask for his receipt at the exit. However, this tactic does not work at Costco.

Costco's website describes their "standard practice" to check the receipts.
The Tiktker underlines the terms and conditions of the membership of Costco, which are stated online.
"It is Standard practice To all our warehouse locations to check the purchase receipts when customers leave our buildings, "said Costco website." We do it to verify that the items purchased have been properly treated with our cashiers. This is our most effective method for maintaining the accuracy of stock control, and it is also a good way to ensure that our members have been properly charged for their purchases. ""
By discussing these rules, @Kerneldump said that "I eat inside because I still don't want to do it, in principle".
To fight against this, he said that he had found a bypass solution.

The tiktker explained that he uses an application called Pro scanner , which allows him to present a digital version of his receipt on his smartphone.
"What I'm going to do now is that, as soon as I finished checking at Costco, I will present my receipt, and I will use CT and scan everything, then I will tear the receipt, and I Just throw it in the trash, "he explains. "When I'm going to go out, yes, I'm going to show them the scanned copy of my receipt."
@Kerneldump adds that it allows the employee to look at the "completely valid receipt", which shows its transaction. If he obtains a step back, he maintains that employees should look for his purchase in the costco system.

Some tiktkers have discussed the effectiveness of this practice.
In the comments section, the other buyers supported @ Kerneldump's decision not to show his receipt, noting that sometimes it's a problem to wait to leave the store. But others have argued that this additional effort may not be worth it.
"Is your problem with Costco marked on the receipt, but you have already scanned it…. So what is the problem with them by checking / marking the receipt after?" A tiktker commented.
Several others have said that showing your receipt can also be beneficial for buyers, as auditors can notice an error. "Costco has taken fees in accidental doubles for me," said a comment.
Several commentators have insisted that if you are a Costco member, you must simply respect the rules. "I could see if, as we were forced to shop at Costco but [these are] costco rules if you do not follow them, do not shop at Costco," wrote one of them.
In response, however, @Kerneldump commented to say that he was no longer shopping at Costco. In a monitoring video , the Tiktker has developed on its position, declaring that the process is really only a "punctual control" and "not meticulous enough to be considered as security at all".
