Tastykake snack cake recalled due to health problems, the FDA warns
Consumers are invited to throw the cakes or return them for a full refund.

A main brand to which we often turn is a tastykake - a staple in convenience stores, supermarkets and automatic distributors nationally. The recalled cakes were sold in six states.
In a reminder notice of May 24, the FDA announced that Flowers Foods, Inc. , Tastykake's parent company, voluntarily remembers certain Tastykake chocolate kakes. AE0FCC31AE342FD3A1346EBB1F342FCB
The affected products were distributed on May 11 to six states customers, namely Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginie and Virginie-Western, said the FDA. The products have a date of "profit by" of June 5, 2023, which is listed on the side of the package. They also have the universal product code (UPC) 0 25600 00225 4 Printed under the barcode.
They were recalled due to an undeclared allergen.
Flowers Foods pulled the chocolate snack cakes after discovering that certain packets of Kakes Au Chocolat Tastykake in fact contained Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes. As its name suggests, the latter contains peanuts, which are a known allergen.
"The declaration of ingredients for Kandy Kakes chocolate does not declare that peanuts are in the product," said the notice. "No related illness or incident has been reported to date."
You are entitled to a refund if you buy them.
Those who suffer from an allergy or a sensitivity to peanuts should not eat affected chocolate snack cakes because they could undergo a "serious or fatal allergic reaction if they consume this product", warned the FDA.
Instead, the agency requests that consumers throw all the affected snack cakes or return to their place of purchase for a full refund. Several other snacks have recently been subjected to a reminder.
