On April 27, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Vornado recalls specific models of Steamfast and Brookstone brand brand irons.

The recall applies to the double tension Steamfast Home and outside the steam irons with the SF-717, SF-720 and SF-727 model numbers and date codes between January 2008 and March 2017. The numbers model and date codes are printed on the back of the irons, according to the CPSC. Brookstone steamer's steam iron irabers with the number 606335 model are also part of the recall.

All irons have come in white and can be identified by their cord ring - the wire protector where the cord is fixed to the iron - which is gray or black and less than a thumb in length.

About 310,000 irons were sold in the United States, the steam irons sold nationally in Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and online via Amazon, Vornado and Steamfast between January 2009 and May 2018. Brookstone irons were sold exclusively in Brookstone from 2009 until 2013, selling $ 13 to $ 30, according to the CPSC. 5,000 additional shoots were sold in Canada.

The products have been recalled due to problems with the power cord, which can be damaged near the cord ring, according to the CPSC. When a cord is damaged, it can expose copper wires, pose a risk of shock and damage can also cause overheating of the cord, creating risks of fire and burning.

As of April 27, Vornado received 50 incident reports, according to the CPSC, with smoking, sparkle, burn or emit other overheating signs in 38 cases. The damage caused by the cord have been mentioned in 12 reports, but no injury has been reported to date.
