What is your secret to push your employees to work hard and do a good job without you getting to you?

You must align their interests with yours. If the only person who wants to win a companySuccess Is the boss, you have not only an economic fracture with your colleagues, but also an emotional gap. If you want others to work as hard as you do it-and make the same decisions you want-Treat them as partners in success and failure. At ZMC, compensation structures are strictly related to the company's performance. If the company succeeds well, you are paid. If it's not the case? You do not do it. No, everyone does not receive a trophy, but at the end of the day, I think that resentment is caused by an injustice and an approach formulating the remuneration that is honest and transparent is as just as possible.

Is there a new training session or specific trend - do you kiss this year?

Work more intelligently, not more difficult. It turns out that an intense 45-minute workout (or even a 30-minute drive session) can be much more beneficial for you than your standard elevator-chill-chill-chill-chill-telephone session -Talk-to-buddy. In addition, I'm starting to add intensity just about everything I do, that it can lift heavier weights in less time or make a time-stopped body weight session with friends.

Can you tell us about a major mistake you made in creating a business and what it taught you?

When I joined the twentieth century Fox as President and COO, I was young only 32 years old and pretty green. Fortunately, I knew it. What I did not know was that to come hot and try to make quick decisions and changes could really slow progress.

After six months on the heap, my boss told me, "We think you're smart enough, but you really do not have leadership skills."

It stings. I defined myself as a leader. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to assume responsibility and try to do better. I read an excellent book on society (yes:How to win friends and influence people,by Dale Carnegie), andStarted talking less and listening a lot more. Even today, I am a work in progress. My favorite sentence in business is: "What do I miss?"

If I have extra $ 10,000, what should I do with that? Backup the? Invest here? Blow it in a fun way?

In fact it depends. Are you Carl Icahn, worth more than $ 25 billion? (Carl: Give it to charity.) If, on the other hand, it's your first handle, do a small amount (say $ 500) and do something fun for yourself or a person you like Celebrate your success. Then I would advise you to save and invest the rest in a mutual or index fund (but make sure it's a major name without initial and continuous fees).

Most Americans have very little cushion if something is wrong, and many have (really dear) credit card debt. The only debt you should have is a reasonable mortgage and maybe a car loan. No matter how much you do, save at least a little every month. This actually adds.

What is the best habit you have taken as CEO? And what is the worst habit you have ever get rid of success?

The best? I plan my exercise because I would set any assembly or obligation of work. And in the same way that I can not cancel the job, I do not cancel my workouts.

The worst: I stopped drinking. Have two Scottish at night and try to make a brutal workout at 6 o'clock in the morning, the next morning, stopped making sense for me.

If you ran Facebook, what would you do differently and why?

Mark Zuckerberg seems to be boxing of course without my help. I think I will focus on doing a better job at ZMC and take two.
