The last gift from Stephen Hawking to humanity will move you to tears

His legacy to the world may be his theories, but his gift was his kindness.


On March 14, Stephen Hawking died peacefully at her home in Cambridge at the age of 76. An extraordinary man, he was also known for his wit and humor as he was for his innovative scientific theories. He was also an incredibly nice man, whose Foundation funded research on motor neuron disease and, like longtime contributorSOS Children's Villages, Benefited children living in poverty worldwide. So it is appropriate that his last gift was the one who helped the most in need.

Last weekend, the acclaimed physicist was put to rest at a funeral service in Cambridge. But rather than splash out on a lavish reception, family fauconeuse donated to a local charity, which was then used for a special Easter lunch that feeds 50 people through difficult financial times.

The family described the act of generosity as "a gift from Stephen."

"They wanted to do something to help people through a difficult time," Alex Collis, member of Charitysaid to the BBC. "It was a very nice gesture ... and very nice of them to think of foodcycle."

Lunch, which included gifts for 50 guests, was an appropriate way to commemorate a great man.

Needless to say, the sweet little gesture was well received on social media, where users have written that he "moved them to tears."
