August 4, theConsumer Product Safety Committee (CPSC) announced that about two million dehumidifiers produced by New Windetech are recalled in the United States, the reminder includes a dozen popular brands, such as Cool Cool, Edgetar, Friedrich, Honeywell, Whirlpool, etc. Dehumidifiers have been found "overheating and catching fire, pushing fire and burning," according to the statement. The reminder also extends beyond the United States, with approximately 380,000 dehumidifiers recalled in Canada and about 25,000 recalled in Mexico.

If you have one of these dehumidifiers, you should stop using it immediately.

If you have one of the impacted dehumidifiers, the CPSC advises you to "stop using dehumidifiers immediately and contact New WinDeteTech for a refund". They note that the amount you will be refunded will be projected according to the age of the dehumidifier. If you need to contact a new WinDetech, you can call 877-251-1512 or head at theWebsite of the company for more information.

More than 100 overheating incidents or catching fire occurred with these devices.

According to the statement, the new WinDeteTech knows 107 incidents in which overheated reminded dehumidifiers and in some cases caught fire. Fortunately, no injury related to dehumidifiers has been reported. However, these accidents resulted in approximately $ 17 million in material damage, in accordance with the CSPC.
